The Majestic Reader’s Theatre Company continues its season of high quality staged readings on Sunday, October 27, with the dark comedy-drama “The Baltimore Waltz,” by Paula Vogel. On the last Sunday of every month, the Company will offer another production in the “reader’s theatre” style: trained actors, with scripts in hand, make the play come alive through vocal talent, facial expressions, and minimal staging. Reader’s theatre plays are a fun, accessible way to experience contemporary works by famous modern playwrights that might not otherwise be performed here.

“The Baltimore Waltz” follows Anna, a young elementary school teacher who thinks she’s dying, and her brother Carl as they take a final whirlwind tour through Europe. Along the way, they encounter several wild characters – all played by the same actor – and are shadowed by the mysterious bunny-carrying “Third Man.” As they desperately seek a cure from a quack doctor in Vienna, we slowly discover that the entire scenario, from Anna’s disease to the European vacation, may be a disguise for the real tragedy of Carl’s condition. “The Baltimore Waltz” is directed by Michael Winder.

Tickets are $8, $6 for students/seniors, and seating is limited.
